Carol A. Walker, author, motivational speaker and Founder of the
Financial Fitness Centers and the Financial Freedom Foundation, spent
much of her career in the insurance and real estate industries where
she built two multimillion-dollar companies and was honored with the
industries' highest awards. Believing that financial fitness would be
more important in the current economic climate of the 90's than
physical fitness was in the 1980's, she established a company
specializing in debt counseling and budget training and has overseen
the evolution of her company into the Carol Walker Financial Fitness
Program.
When Carol told her story in the 1977 book How to Succeed in
Business Without Being a Man, she gave hope to women around the country
who felt trapped and discouraged by a perceived lack of opportunity.
She was breaking new ground and insurance industry records in the
1960's, against all odds and before the women's movement had made
significant inroads into the world of business. She carried her
successful attitudes and techniques into the commercial real estate
industry in the 70's and built a second flourishing company in Salt
Lake City. In 1988, she began the business of helping others free
themselves from debt.
WAKE UP AMERICA: Regain Your American Heritage - Become Financially
Fit Through Debt Elimination, co-authored with John Rivera, Ph.D. has
just been released to the public. It contains not only the shocking
facts about our credit and debt crisis, but easy to follow advice for
becoming "Financially Fit".
Her Financial Fitness Centers offer a progressive curriculum of
financial training and personal counseling aided by a unique personal
computer program designed to inform, encourage, and motivate clients to
unload excessive financial baggage. The majority of Fitness Center
clients are on the fast track to paying off all consumer debt,
automobile loans, and 30-year home mortgages in five to ten years,
without increasing their income.
Among many other awards and honors, Mrs. Walker was recognized in
1990 as the National Outstanding Business Woman of the Year by the
Institute for Constitutional Education, headquartered in Washington,
D.C. She also received the 1989-90 Award for Excellence in Consumer
Education from the Money School of Boston and was commissioned a
Kentucky Colonel by the Governor of Kentucky in 1990. She has been
named honorary citizen by the Mayors of New York City, Providence,
Portland, Baltimore, Washington D.C., Alexandria, Nashville, Knoxville,
Miami, St. Petersburg, Panama City, Fort Lauderdale, New Orleans,
Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Kansas City, Topeka, Tucson, Denver and Salt
Lake City. She was a nominee for the 1994 Horatio Alger Award.
Mrs. Walker was the first female member of the Utah Million Dollar
Club, having sold over 1 million dollars in life insurance in one year.
She has received many awards and honors, including the National Sales
Achievement and National Quality Awards from the National Association
of Life Underwriters. Soon after entering commercial and investment
real estate, she earned top real estate sales awards within the
industry.
Mrs. Walker served as Chairman of the Vocational Advisory Committee
of Utah Technical College, as PTA President for a Salt Lake City School
District, and as a board member of Junior Achievement, Utah's General
Agents & Managers Association, Development Workshops for the
Handicapped, and as President of Sales & Marketing Executives of
Utah.
Mrs. Walker has also written for or been featured in such
publications as Idaho East Magazine, The Deseret News, The Woman's
Advocate, The Executive Woman, The Ensign, The Adviser, and Woman's
World Magazine. She appears on radio and television talk programs and
especially enjoys addressing gatherings where she has the opportunity
to meet with audience members individually. Her greatest satisfaction
is when achievers call or write months later to report significant
improvements in their lives, business, or careers, as a result of
attending her presentations.
She has been featured in news programs such as ABC News in
Washington, D.C., and CBS News, Idaho Falls, Idaho. As well as being
